The Secrets to Adding Email Marketing to Your List of Offerings

Sitting at breakfast with a friendI was asked me a question I had really never thought about before.  His question hit me like a ton of bricks. As a business owner I should of had an answer for him right away.  His question sent me on a journey and forced me to look at what we were doing as an Ohio website design company.

Some of you are dying at this point. Tell us! What was your friend’s question? Ok I will spare you the suspense. Here was his question, “So. After a web design project is finished and you hand it off to the client what keeps them coming back?”  Good question! Honestly, up to that point my mindset on the client relationship ended when the website was complete and handed over. If they did come back it would be because they needed minor fixes or updates.

All web design companies need to consider my friends question.  What if anything can or should we do to keep our clients coming back to us? Is there a revenue stream we’re missing? Is their something else we could provide our clients that will not only keep them coming back but that could provide increased monthly residual revenue? The answer is email marketing.

To many web designers and design firms end the client relationship when the web project goes live.  This is unfortunate.  What if we looked passed just the design and layout of our client’s websites? What if we stayed onboard with them even after the site has launched to help them achieve some of their website goals? You client has goals (or you should hope they do) for why they need and want a website.   4. It is measurable. How many times were your emails opened? Who clicked on what? The feedback can help future campaigns.
